So who is the author anyway? |

Derek Pell
became interested in publishing his own
work after completing his degree in June
2006 and co-publishing a paper with Dr
Ian Wells of Swansea Metropolitan
University based on the findings of his
third year degree project.
This had been further encouraged by an
early success years before, when he
developed and sold his own software
named ElectroCAD and later ProCAD; CAD
systems programmed for the then popular
Commodore Amiga. This software was sold
to students and hobbyists throughout the
UK and Europe.
Before graduating as a mature student
with First Class Honours Derek worked in
a range of industries, from software,
electronics, digital TV, avionics and
spacecraft communications in a
combination of permanent and contract
roles. His last position before
beginning his degree in Computer Systems
and Electronics was at EADS Astrium, the
European spacecraft specialists at their
site in Portsmouth, Hampshire, in which
he worked on the SkyNet5 project for the
MOD. At this time he was qualified to UK
HNC level and had been awarded the GUY
CUP in 1992 by William Lloyd, of The
Isle of Wight College, for outstanding
achievements in Microprocessor
Interfacing.
After graduating Derek was employed by
Delphi Diesel Systems Ltd (Kent) as a
systems engineer and latter
Radiodetection Ltd as a design engineer
working with the Bristol based cable
detector team prior to becoming a
published author. |
